All White Everything

Am I the only one who absolutely HATES the bridesmaids at Kim's wedding all wearing wedding gowns? I mean, they're bridesmaids dresses but come on! They're wedding dresses...I don't get the point...

"You Want ME to Be a Bridesmaid?!"

I recently had a conversation with someone who was freaking out because her friend asked her to be a bridesmaid in her wedding.  She was worried about all of the responsibility that comes with being a bridesmaid...always having a smile on your face, making sure that you attend every lunch and fitting and hair appointment, etc. She even contemplated offering her friend $1,000 and the total use of her daughter as a flower girl...it was deep but I totally understood where she was coming from.  I was in my best friend's wedding a few years ago and while I was so excited and honored to be a bridesmaid, it was a lot of work and a lot of money...a lot...Here are a few tips that I gave this bridesmaid-to-be in order to make the experience a little less painful:
  • First thing's first...HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER! This will help her stay organized and ease her mind. I always say that there are two kinds of Bridezillas: the first one is the one who never had a lot of attention and is using her wedding as the time to be insane and have people do everything for her...whether it is nice or not; the second one is the one who is completely overwhelmed and unorganized. A planner will help her with everything and you'll be able to be the friend...not the coordinator/event designer/florist etc.
  • Pinterest is a must!  It'll help her organize all of the ideas that she has.  It is seriously such an amazing site. You can create storyboards for anything that you want: the bridal shower, bachelorette party, wedding, even the honeymoon! Do it. You'll thank me later.
  • Be honest! If you absolutely hate the dress, tell her...but in a very nice way. If the dress that she picked out is $600 and doesn't fit in your budget (that would be rude if she wasn't paying for them) you need to let her know. There is no need to resent your friend and hate the whole experience.
  • Remember to tell her how beautiful she is, have a smile on your face and do whatever she asks...she asked you to be in her wedding for a reason...

Salmon and Spinach Frittatas

Ok, Guys...lately I've been watching WAY too much Food Network. I've been making steak (which gave me anxiety for almost a week), pasta and now I've decided on salmon and spinach frittatas. I sliced up a potato which made for the perfect brunch dish...

"Thank You" Never Gets Old

This weekend I had the honor of working on a wedding with two of my favorite clients...Hy and Laurie ...It was one of my favorite weddings to date. The singing, dancing, all of it....I'll have a much larger post coming soon. This morning I woke up to this wonderful email from Laurie and Hy. I swear, "thank you" never gets old...

"...The weekend turned out marvelously, we couldn't have asked for a better wedding...From the bottom of both of our hearts, thank you for all of the hard work you put in on our behalf...Thanks again for everything you've done about which we are aware, and for the no doubt countless hiccups you solved we didn't know about... "
