Motivation Monday!

So, this post is for all of the grooms out've proposed, she said yes, you're planning planning planning...with all that planning, I'm sure that Valentine's Day is slipping your memory...DON'T LET IT!

I literally gasped when I saw these Cathy Waterman rings...aren't they just amazing?! (I think so!)

{by the way...she'll love a single rose just as much}

Fresh Fridays!

Ok, now I know that brides normally like to go with something neutral for their wedding day but seriously, I'm LIVING for this new color by Essie called Sew Psyched! It doesn't look like much in the bottle but on, I swear it's totally gorge! I'm also secretly dying for red nails but never can find the perfect red...until now! Essie also makes this delicious red called Limited Addiction. Wouldn't this also be fun for your bridesmaids as well? Enjoy!

Anne Barge Exclusively at Guffey's!

I had the pleasure of visiting all of the amazingly gorgeous Anne Barge gowns at Guffey's in Atlanta. Yes, I said visiting...As you can tell from my blog, I love wedding gowns and Anne Barge serves up some of the most unique and glamourous gowns out there!

Beth and Amy showed me around the showroom and not only were they so sweet and professional, they let me stare at the gowns and dream...they didn't know I was dreaming but I was! What?! The gowns are to-die!

Check out the Anne Barge Fall 2011 collection:

Fresh Fridays!

I had the pleasure of working with Joel Rabe of Lethal Rhythms during the wedding of Tracy and Rob. I've worked with many djs before but Joel had me at hello...actually, he had me when he absolutely nailed the recessional music exactly the way Tracy requested at the exact moment they were pronounced man and wife {U2's "Beautiful Day"}

What is the absolute #1 song that gets everyone on the dance floor? No matter what crowd it is?
The truth is, there is no one dynamic for a crowd but you can always fall back on a classic as long as it isn’t overplayed….Michael Jackson is always good but only if thrown in at the right time.

What is your favorite thing about being a dj?
Being able to surprise the dance floor with a unique spur of the moment mix that creates loads of energy and gets them yelling.

How long have you been a dj?
Started before college back in 1995 when turn tables was the only option {he can use 3 turn tables}… {aka professional entertainers…}

What is your favorite part of the wedding besides the dancing?
The fact that there is a real reason to celebrate. The bride and groom are celebrating a new beginning.

How did you get into the wedding industry?

When I first came to Atlanta in 1999 I attended a wedding at the Fox Theatre and at the time I was a professional trainer for djs on a nationwide club circuit and I couldn’t believe how basic the djs were in the Atlanta market at the time. So…I moved to Atlanta…

Top 5 songs to get people dancing:
1. Anything by Lady Gaga
2. Any classic rock and roll {like Journey…"Don’t Stop Believing" but mixed live with current hip hop beats}
3. Ladies love to dance to Top 40 like Ke$ha, Katy Perry

4. Music that takes people back like the 80’s ("Venus" by Banana Rama or the Go-Go's)
5. Any hip hop tracks with a good beat (and a clean message)

Voodoo Doughnut...they do weddings!

So, I was watching the Travel Channel and saw Voodoo Doughnut featured as one of the best doughnut existence...I was laughing so hard when they said that they perform weddings! The owners are ministers and totally perform ceremonies right there amongst the doughnuts! So if you're in the mood to get married and are too far from Vegas, check out Voodoo Doughnut in Portland!

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland

If you are in Atlanta, you are probably stuck at home watching reruns of Say Yes to the Dress and Bridalplasty....this weather has me thinking about always having a back-up plan...Whether you are getting married in January or June, a back-up plan is always a good idea.

So many brides have always had a vision for their perfect wedding and many of those visions include getting married outside. When booking your venue, always ask if there is an indoor option...always! Just because you ask and have the back-up plan, it doesn't mean that you'll need's just a good idea.
A back-up plan is always good for your wardrobe as well...these are my current back-up plans... ;)

{Marc Jacobs Fur Cape for the chilly outdoor wedding, Tory Burch Reva Ballerina flat that keeps you stylish yet comfortable enough to run around putting out fires, Marc Jacobs Messenger Bag for the super important emergency kit}

Spikes by summergabrielle featuring bow pumps
Ok, obsession is kind of deep with these spikes that Christian Louboutin is giving right now.

I always get so excited when I see the shoes that a bride has picked because they are always so personal to her style. As gorgeous as these heels are, don't you love the flats as well?! So many people want to stay traditional when it comes to their wedding day but why not add a little flare, or spikes?

Fresh Fridays!

As if you needed another reason to love Fridays, I'm adding one more! I see so many amazing, fashionable ideas for weddings every single day...what better way (or day) to share them but here!

I'm kicking off Fresh Fridays with this amazing Amsale dress. I pretty much love everything Amsale does and this dress is no exception! I saw a variation of this dress in 27 Dresses and I hunted it's kind of my favorite the whole world...for now...

The Four Elements

The holidays are one of the busiest times for engagements. Family time, presents, fires blazing, gorgeous rings in pretty boxes...You've been waiting for him to propose and when the moment finally arrives, you take a day or two to really enjoy it's time to plan the wedding. Panic sets in with most newly engaged brides-to-be but don't let it!!! Try, as much as you can, to really enjoy this time but if you MUST get going on wedding details, start with one of the Four Elements: Season, Tradition, Location and Color.

Season: Decide when you want to get married.  If you have been dreaming of an outdoor wedding but don't live in Hawaii or San Diego, January may not be the best month for you to get hitched.

Tradition: Make sure to really do your research on where the tradition came from. Talk to your parents or grandparents....ask them about their relationships and details from their weddings...if there isn't a tradition that you like, start your own!

Location: Maybe he proposed to you in front of your favorite museum or during a wonderful picnic in the's always nice to incorporate those details into where you want to get married. Start early!! Venues book up far in advance and if you have you heart set on a certain place, don't get your heart early!

Color: This is my favorite! There are so many ways to incorporate color into your wedding. Bridesmaids dresses, shoes, flowers, favors, cake, linens, etc. Just make sure not to get too crazy trying to match the pink dot in the invitation to the pink flowers in the cake topper...that will only drive you insane...enjoy this time!

A Bride For All Seasons

One of my favorite events every year is "A Bride for All Seasons" at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. It's full of luxury and top notch vendors, service and just the touch of elegance any bride looks for on their special day!

I'm going to be taking two lucky brides with me on January 23, 2011 to experience this wonderful event. All you have to do is have as many of your friends and family email me {summer (at) mysimplyperfect (dot)com} with your name and wedding date. Enter "A Bride For All Seasons" in the subject line...the two brides with the most votes wins!!!! Let the voting begin!!

Kennedy's 1st Birthday!

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had an amazing time with family and friends over the holidays.

We're so excited to start the year off with Kennedy's first birthday party! The theme was "Yo Gabba Gabba" and Kennedy's parents went all out! There were "Yo Gabba Gabba" blankets, gift bags, cupcakes and cutouts of DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Brobee and Foofa for everyone to take pictures with.

Tim Hines of Tim Hines Photography shot the party and as you can see below, he did an amazing job! Tim photographed Kennedy's parent's wedding so it was really nice having him at their daughter's first birthday...he's kind of become a part of the family!
